Book Quote: The Reading Promise

I'm in love with the book I'm currently reading, The Reading Promise by Alice Ozma.  While there have been a lot of wonderful words written so far, this sentence stood out to me this evening.

"That is the best part, after all; even better than holding, touching, smelling, and hugging new books is taking them home and reading them in your own bed, under your own covers, with your own lamp shining beside you until someone yells for you to turn it off and get some sleep."

I suspect I may have more quotes from this book to share with you before I'm finished. *Sigh*

Sunday Smile

I'm not normally ice cream's biggest fan but this past week it has been my number one craving.

Special Corner and Pears

When I got home this afternoon, the house was completely quiet.  No husband, no puppy.  As I walked by the bedroom window, I caught a glimpse of something in the yard.  There sat my husband in "his corner," rubbing Crickett's tummy.

Sometimes Mitch just likes to sit or stand in the corner and look out over the yard.  He claims Crickett likes to join him but I'm not so sure.  I tell my better half on a regular basis that he's a crazy old man; it should be interesting to see the ridiculous things he does when he is actually old.

And in other news, nearly all our pears have fallen off the trees.

I'm not sure if the fruit was too heavy for the branches or the crazy wind we had yesterday was responsible (perhaps a combination of both), but now we're down to one pear per pear tree.

I am bummed.  Crickett is fascinated.

A Girl Can Dream, Part 3

If anyone wants to buy me this 1914 beauty - hardwood floors, dental molding, a fireplace, and stained glass windows - I won't argue.

A Blog Friend and a Teapot

A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of meeting Megan, a blog friend from here in North Dakota.  She was as cute and fun as I thought she would be in person and I hope we have the opportunity to spend some more time together in the future.  (I wanted to get a picture of us together but being the bad photographer I have been lately, no such picture exists. Boo on me!)

Megan is also a HUGE SWEETHEART!  She blogged about an adorable Christmas teapot earlier this summer and I jokingly asked her if she wanted my address so she could send it to me.  What did she bring along on her visit?  The teapot!  I am beyond excited to add this to my collection of Christmas decorations!  Thanks again, Megan!

(Photo by Megan - I would have taken my own, but hers is so much better than anything I could have done!)

I have truly been blessed by all the blog friends I have made over the years!  I wish I could meet you all!

Now, go check out Megan's blogs: Broken & Whole, Classic Femininity, Megan Erbele Photography.

Happy Tuesday!

Bad Influence

My husband and in-laws don't take many photos and it appears that I am truly becoming one of the family.

My cousin got married on Saturday and these are the only photos I have to show for the day:

No photos of the happy bride and groom.  No photos of my cousin who made a beautiful bridesmaid.  No photos of my awesome extended family, many of whom I haven't seen since my wedding nearly four years ago.

My husband and in-laws are a bad influence.

Five Things Friday

Five things that have made me so very happy today:

1.  A husband who is back to working his regular schedule and is currently on his way home with a delicious dinner!

2.  The Funyuns I had with my lunch.

3.  Gummy worms.  I have been ridiculously obsessed lately!

4.  Sleeping puppies.  A sleeping Crickett who didn't hear me turn on my camera and then proceed to run away.

And our visitor, Mr. Moses.  I think he was laying by the power cord in hopes of recharging his battery.

5.  Completing my Management Information Systems course!  What a relief to have that class behind me!

What made you happy today?  (Can you believe it's July already?!)
