2010

Looks like I’m doing it again!

I had an idea of the goals I wanted to accomplish in 2010, but I hadn’t planned on making a formal list. Sitting here today, I’m feeling a little saddened by no “official” challenge. I enjoyed tackling my 2009 goals and I’m thinking about all the fun I will miss out on if I don’t make my 2010 goals concrete. So, here are my grand visions for the new year!

* Run one organized race *
Sound familiar? Yes, this was a goal of mine last year but I want it to be a goal for this year, too. This year my thought is to try a distance other than the 5K or to beat my time on the 5K I ran this past year.

* Try one new recipe a month *
Mitch and I have quite a few recipes and numerous cookbooks, but we always fall back on the same handful of recipes. I want to spice things up a little!

* Sew curtains for my dining room *
Mitch and I originally hadn’t planned on putting any type of window covering over our patio door, but I’ve changed my mind. I still don’t mind the whole “people can see into your house” aspect, but I think curtains would make the room much more homey.

* Watch a "classic" movie *
Any suggestions? Casablanca? Breakfast at Tiffany's?

* Read a "classic" novel *
I have plenty of these on my list and I think it's about time I read one.

* Start Project 365 *
I attempted this photo-of-the-day challenge twice last year. The first round, I missed a day and called it quits. The second round, I got to the point where I was just taking a photo of anything just to “get it done.” I wasn’t challenging myself, nor was I enjoying the task (it felt more like a chore). My excitement has returned and I want to try once more. Third time's a charm, right?

* Complete one accounting course *
I've never taken an accounting course and it's always been something I thought I'd enjoy. I'm registered for an introductory course which begins January 12th and I'm beyond excited.

* Volunteer at the Humane Society *
I’ve always had a soft spot for dogs and since getting Crickett, that spot has grown and grown. I love Crickett more than I thought possible, but I know that I still have a lot of love to give and I want to do what I can for those dogs that haven’t been as fortunate as our little girl.

* Celebrate 25 days of Christmas AND document it *
I wish I would have documented more of my celebrations this past Christmas, so I thought it would be a fun goal for the next Christmas.

I can't wait to get started on this list! 2010 is going to be a fun year!

I have some of these same things on my 101 in 1001 list! Tyler and I got a vegan cookbook for our wedding and so we have been able to try out some new recipes from there. We haven't not eaten one bad thing out of that book! (Sarah Kramer - La Dolce Vega)

If you guys are into Mexican, I have some awesome enchilada and burrito recipes.

Classic movies? I have yet to watch Gone with the Wind. I have always wanted to see it. Casablanca is really, really good!

I want to volunteer at the Humane Society too! My heart is HUGE for animals and I'm afraid I'll want to bring them all home. :)

I think you should watch Gone With the Wind. I enjoyed it...Bryce does not. ;)

I have a couple of great recipes that we make often if you ever need one. And they are easy!

What neat goals! I LOVE classic movies - Double Indemnity is a favorite. The Apartment with Jack Lemon and Shirley MacLaine is great too.
