Blizzard Season is Upon Us

We're in the midst of our first blizzard of the 2008-2009 winter season. Hooray! Okay, not really.

Instead of calling off school like every other single town around us did (and I'm not kidding when I say that), our town decided the state-wide blizzard warning issued by the weather service wasn't important enough to keep us all from learning. At least not until fifth period when things got really ugly.

So, at 1:30, those students and teachers that live out of town were allowed to leave. (Town folk had to stay so that it counts as a full day for our school - have you ever heard of anything so ridiculous?). Now, safely at home, I have an important decision to make. I have some correcting I could get done, lesson plans I could write, or I could cuddle under a blanket and read my book. Hmmm . . .

"Town folk had to stay so that it counts as a full day for our school - have you ever heard of anything so ridiculous?" --- Yes, as a matter of fact I have! LOL. When I did my graduate work at a small town school, there were multiple times they wanted to call school off in the middle of the day, but didn't want to have to make it up. So, the kids would take off shortly before lunch and if the teachers stayed until 1pm it was counted as a full day. Geesh.

That is nasty. I have seen some pics of the Hettinger/Bowman area and was in shock. It's still just raining here, but windier than all get out!

Stay warm chica!
