Real Teacher

I jinxed myself. Last week I had the wonderful realization that I hadn't been sick at all during the school year. Guess who came down with a cold/flu bug over the weekend? Ugh! Needless to say, I don't have it in me to go to school today.

I hate calling in sick. I always think the person I'm dealing with doesn't believe me. Not only that, I think I'm a "real" teacher now. It never bothered me before to miss a day of school - I always figured "life goes on and school will continue as normal when I return tomorrow." Well, I do not have a single day to spare right now - there is absolutely no "wiggle room." I had each and every day until the end of the semester (which is approaching extremely fast) filled with something we absolutely had to cover and now this day is going to throw a wrench into all of my plans. I now know what all those other teachers were getting so worked up about. I'm going to chalk this up to another lesson on how to be flexible.

I hope your week is starting out better than mine!

I hope you feel better soon!

I always worry that people don't believe me when I say I'm sick too.

Only I know that people can physically tell when I don't feel well.

I chalk it up to all my other jobs where people were less responsible and constantly called in sick and they weren't sick at all.

Ironic! I was just thinking the same thing this weekend as I haven't been out yet and haven't gotten sick except for a tiny cold I got over one weekend. Today I came home with a stomach flu! :(

I hope you feel better. Dang kids getting us sick!
